Consider the following statement: "We spend more time connecting online but less time connecting in person." Do you agree or disagree with this antithesis? Explain your perspective using personal experiences. Discuss how technology has influenced the way people communicate and build relationships. In your response, include at least one original example of antithesis.

 Prompt Response: I agree with this statement because I believe technology  has made it easier to communicate with people especially if they live far away. However online interactions also can replace opportunities to spend time together in person since people are more focused on their phones. This antithesis shows how technology can bring people together but also creates physical distance and should to replace the connections made from spending time face-to-face with people. 

Summary: Today in class we continued learning rhetorical devices with litotes and antithesis. I learned that a litotes emphasizes its point by using a word opposite to the condition and an antithesis contrasts ideas. After defining each term we did practice by creating our own sentences or identifying the contrasting words in an antithesis sentence. 

Reflection: This lesson was interesting because I did not know about these rhetorical devices before today and I believe they will help elevate my writing. I think litotes were easier than antithesis's but the antithesis sentences were all very strong and interesting to read.

  Prompt Response:  One time I told my friend that I thought that the character Serena Van Der Woodson from Gossip Girl was the worst character in the show. When she asked why I thought that I explained that Serena was extremely selfish, manipulative, and always tried to make herself appear better than everyone else when she was just as toxic as the rest of her friends. Explaining each of these points with specific instances in the show helped me demonstrate to my friend why I believed she was the worst character and afterwards my friend also agreed with me.  Summary: Today in class we evaluated a passage and looked at the prompt "Is there ever such  thing as a 'good kill?'". Describe a time you felt completely lost.

  Prompt Response:  One time I felt lost was in AP Precalculus every day since the beginning of school. The teacher goes too fast and doesn't explain the information enough for me to understand and I feel behind and can't compute the work. It is definitely the most lost I've been in a class in highschool and I am in the process of getting tutoring because I don't like feeling behind or incorrect. Summary: Today in class we revisited types of claims such as claims of fact and claims of value.
